I was in a minor car accident 17 days ago, and about a week after the accident I was called by the police officer who arrived at the scene and he told me I would not be getting a ticket and the other driver was the first one to make contact. I was following him and there was freezing rain, he tried to stop, I tried to stop, couldn't and attempted to drive around him, while he slid into me. The police officer said I was getting a ticket for following too close, he was getting a ticket for driving too fast. I downshifted 2 moved here gears and tried to brake, driving a truck that weighed 27,000 pounds. My fiance seems to think there is a statue of limitations as to how long they can write a ticket to you. I am in wisconsin and it has been 17 days, is there a statue of limitations?
